NetPilot Lite FAQS

Q: How does the NetPilot Lite differ from NetPilot Remote (the next model down in Equiinet's range)?

A: The Remote is designed to be a remote office VPN end node with firewall. The NetPilot Lite has more processing power and is thus is better suited to handling multiple UTM Services offered within the UTM Standard pack such as combinations of Anti Virus, Anti Spam, and Filtering all at one time.

Q: Can I receive email from my ISP and then forward through the NetPilot Lite to a separate MS Exchange email server sitting behind the NetPilot Lite ?

A: Yes.


Q: What URL filtering options are available on the NetPIlot Lite?

A: The NetPilot Lite is supplied with a UTM Standard license which includes ability to filter traffic for 25 users. The Bightfilter services offers over 90 categories and a database of over 15 million URLs.


Q: What UTM services work with the NetPilot Lite?

A: The UTM Standard pack only.


Q: What VPN functionality does NetPilot Lite possess?

A: The VPN offering comprises both of IPSec and OpenVPN and ability to interface with Safenet IPSec VPN clients and OpenVPN SSL clients.
Note: With IPSec you will need ISP services with fixed IP addresses. If you have VPN clients requiring remote access into the NetPilot Lite - you will need both fixed IP addresses and a non-dialled connection for the NetPilot Lite. e.g. ADSL with NONAT.


Q: How many VPN clients are included with NetPilot Lite?

A: OpenVPN clients are available free of charge.


Q: I need to relay email via my VPN through my central site NetPilot, rather than directly to my ISP. Is this possible?

A: Yes - but you need to ensure you are using a service with a fixed IP address on your NetPilot Lite. The central NetPilot needs to be configured with this fixed IP address as an allowed relaying node.


Q: Does NetPilot Lite work with ADSL?

A: Yes. A suitable ADSL modem is additionally required.


Q: Does NetPilot Lite support NAT-T, so I can access its LAN from behind another firewall?

A: Yes, the NetPilot Lite supports NAT-T.
