NetPilot Plus reduces complexity and protects users and the organisation from multiple internally and externally generated threats, by combining multiple protection measures into a single appliance.
To provide complete peace of mind, NetPilot Plus comes bundled with 12 months subscription to Equiinet's Premium UTM protection. This includes: Checkmark-accredited firewall, Anti-virus, Anti-spam, email policy controls, advanced firewall, intrusion detection and prevention systems, Anti-spyware and URL content filtering.
The intrusion detection system detects attacks or looks for behavior on the network that is unusual or against acceptable use policies. It also provides an audit trail to show how the attack occurred, from where and how far it went. Once something unusual has been detected, the intrusion prevention system can be configured to automatically communicate with the NetPilot advanced firewall to block potential future exploits.
Anti-virus capabilities are powered by market-leading technology from Sophos, offering gateway Anti-virus scanning of all incoming, outgoing and internal emails, together with all website downloads. Anti-spam facilities ensure your staff are not inundated with useless and time-consuming emails. Email policy controls give the administrator even greater scope to create more extensive rules to deal with email, customised to your organisation's needs.
URL content filtering offers a complete control of all browsing activities. This service can be profiled for individual users or user groups, ensuring porn and all other undesirable content is blocked.
The advanced firewall uses powerful stateful packet inspection techniques. To provide the best security, a firewall must track and control the flow of communications. Unlike rudimentary packet filters that are found in cheap personal firewall products, NetPilot's stateful inspection analyses information flow into and out of a network so that security decisions can be made in real time. This is accomplished by tracking the state and context of all communications traversing the firewall, even when the connection involves complex protocols.
The advanced firewall also offers the flexibility to allocate particular services and define protocol attributes to particular physical ports. In this fashion, multiple WAN, LAN, DMZ and other ports can be configured.
NetPilot Plus' firewall has undergone rigorous independent testing from West Coast Labs and has been awarded Checkmark accreditation.
NetPilot uses URL filtering to ensure you don't browse sites that are known to infect PCs. In addition, NetPilot stores identities of spyware and blocks them in the same way it blocks viruses. The databases of spyware and virus identities are updated automatically.
With its Checkmark accredited Virtual Private Network (VPN) functionality, NetPilot Plus offers a choice of secure protocols and encryption options to allow creation of your organisation's own internet-based VPN. Secure tunnels across the Internet can interconnect NetPilots at different office locations.
In addition, roving sales and support personnel, or home office users, can connect to their central office using a VPN client. NetPilots come complete with free OpenVPN clients - so there are no cost penalties adding a remote access service for multiple users.
NetPilot Plus enables multi-user Internet access through any type of high-speed broadband connectivity. It has powerful, yet flexible, control facilities to administer local access to external resources. This includes user restrictions, web access controls and filters, as well as time controls.
NetPilot Plus can act as a company-wide email server. Incoming and/or outgoing emails can be automatically copied or redirected. For complete flexibility, NetPilot Plus can be set to act as a gateway to another internal mail server such as Microsoft Exchange.
To save bandwidth and speed up response time, Equiinet introduced caching. This allows popular websites, pages or parts of pages, to be stored locally in NetPilot Plus and to be viewed subsequently by other users without reconnecting to the Internet, unless the content has changed.
NetPilot Plus is very straightforward to install and extremely easy-to-use. The network administrator is provided with 'Quick Configuration' mechanisms which are accessed through a browser interface, enabling online connectivity within minutes.
NetPilot Plus monitors and reports on a range of activities including online time, the number of incoming and outgoing emails by user, web usage by time of day, and firewall rejects. These reports can be automatically collated and sent as a daily email to a system supervisor. Support staff can check the operation of NetPilot Plus remotely and make online changes if necessary.
At the end of the initial 12 months subscription of UTM Premium, included with the NetPilot Plus unit, there is the option to renew for a further 12 months. Users have the choice of continuing their subscription to the same Premium UT M pack, or subscribing to the UTM Standard pack. The latter option is lower cost, but has correspondingly less features and functions.
Operating System software updates can be automatically downloaded from the NetPilot upgrade service site, so long as the NetPilot unit has a current UTM Premium or UTM Standard subscription in force.
