Equiinet complete a series of strategic acquisitions
Equiinet is pleased to announce today that after a series of strategic acquisitions Equiinet has joined forces with several leading UK technology companies in order to execute its strategy for moving into the Voice over IP (VoIP) appliance and services market.
The new technologies will enable Equiinet to build upon its market-leading ‘Pilot’ range of Internet security and bandwidth optimisation appliances, with the introduction of a range of Telephony Integrated Network Appliances (TINA) and services.
Keith Baker, Equiinet’s Managing Director, commented, “We’ve been extremely successful in the UK’s SME and Education markets over the years with more than 40,000 appliances sold, and we’re now very excited at the prospect of leading the market, yet again, with an advanced telephony appliance too. The companies we’ve acquired have some unique technologies and skills, and should enable us to achieve this in a relatively short time scale”.
Equiinet was founded in 1998 by Keith Baker (present MD) and Bob Jones (recently retired Chairman), and quickly led the UK’s SME market with its award-winning NetPilot Internet security appliance range of products, which also sold into many vertical markets such as Solicitors, Estate agents and the British Armed Forces. A move into the UK education market with their CachePilot range of products saw them take 80% of the market within a matter of years. In 2006 Equiinet was included in the Sunday Times Fastrack 100 list as one of the UK’s fastest growing technology companies.
Keith Baker, who will continue in his role as Managing Director of Equiinet, will assume the extended role of group Managing Director.
